Monday [generosity]

Matthew 21:12–22, Mark 11:15–19, and Luke 19:45-48

It’s possible, maybe probable, that theses scriptures details the story of what happened on Monday of the last week in the life of Jesus.  After the triumphal entry into Jerusalem of yesterday (Sunday) and the proclaiming in expectant political and religious anticipation that he was the Messiah, Jesus sets out and gets to work.  Cursing a fig tree, a curious start, serves as a prophetic gesture before he enters the Temple structure and enacts prophecy.  One of the underlying themes of these events is generosity : God’s towards the people, and the people (and their lack of it) towards each other…and even towards God.

How do you hear today’s story as a both a challenge and invitation to generous living?
