This third week of Advent is themed with the image of Joy.  As you sit in silence today, reflect on the joy you’ve known, the joy you long for, the joy set before you (and us).

Joy to the World Mandala

Joy is an unconquerable gift.
Happiness is an emotion that can disappear as quickly as it rises to the surface.
Joy, however, is a choice.
Joy is trusting when you want to doubt.
Joy is receiving what you want to reject.
Joy is celebrating when you want to fear.

Make a mental inventory of the things that bring you joy.

A Guiding prayer you may find helpful:

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.

Where there is injury, pardon.

Where there is discord, union.

Where there is doubt, faith.

Where there is despair, hope.

Where there is darkness, light.

Where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,

grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;

to be understood, as to understand;

to be loved, as to love;

For it is in giving that we receive,

It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,

and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
