Advent Circle Act Upon

Today is one of the busiest travel days in the year as people travel to be with family for the Christmas weekend.  All that family time can be good, a treat to be with loved ones who live far.  It can also be a trial, being stuck in a small space with family members who might not be friends or supportive.  In all our time together, oftentimes we’re completely alone.

Today’s theme is action – act upon the world for the greater good, to spread and establish the peace announced in the birth of the Christ child.  Today I challenge you to write and send a note to someone else to express your gratitude, to share you love, to offer encouragement to someone who may be thirsty for it.  It doesn’t have to be long.  It doesn’t have to be perfect.  It’s the incarnation in action in your relationship.  Aim to express authentically your feelings of love, gratitude and encouragement.  I’d even encourage you to do it by a hand written mailed note, more than email or text, as we’re inundated with those.  I also don’t think we read electronic versus paper notes in the same way.
